Birdie Derby: Formerly the Berbee Derby

For 20 years, the Berbee Derby has been Madison’s premiere Thanksgiving Day event. The Birdie Derby will bring the same stellar experience for the next 20 years (and more)! Birdie Derby is a fun-filled community event produced by Tri 4 Schools, whose dedicated volunteers work hard year-round to make your entire experience with the Birdie Derby a pleasant one. We’ve listed important information below to help you through the process of registering, arriving on race day, and many other details of our event.
Registration
We’ve partnered with RunSignUp to process your registration information. Before registering for the Birdie Derby, we encourage you to read through the information below regarding important dates, times of the event, the different race categories we offer, and parking.
Derby Village is where everything important will be on the race-day morning: Warming Tents, the race start, water, Orange Shoe Warm-Up, and of course, those all-important porta-potties. Consult the Derby Village map and be in the know on race-day morning.
Perks & Rewards
All pre-registered runners and walkers who pick up their bib numbers at packet pick-up will receive a Birdie Derby long-sleeve shirt and Goody Bag stuffed with items donated by our generous sponsors. There are awards given out for top finishers.

Routes & Maps
Both our 10k and 5k courses are accurately-measured. Volunteers, rest stops (including bathroom breaks), and water stations will be located along the course. Download how to get there.
Parking
Parking is always at a premium on race morning, so do arrive early. Our start and finish lines are nestled in between the Fitchburg Business Park and our surrounding neighbors with parking available on the outskirts of each. Find out the best place to park based on the direction you’ll be coming from and the timing of when you’ll need to head out. (Did we mention you should plan on arriving early?)
