This was the best organized and fun event I’ve been to in my 11 years as a father!
The Birdie Derby is the ONLY Thanksgiving event that donates 100% of proceeds? That means that every dollar stays in our community to support kids, their families, and schools.
Our Commitment to the Participants
For 20 years, the Berbee Derby had been the premier Thanksgiving event. Tri 4 Schools is continuing the tradition! Tri 4 Schools produces exceptional events, where every detail is meticulously crafted to deliver an unforgettable experience. We are excited to provide the Berbee Derby participants with the same experience. We’re confident that the next 20 years will be just as special as the last 20 years.

Parking is always at a premium on race morning, so please arrive early. Our start and finish lines are nestled between the Fitchburg Business Park and surrounding neighbors with parking available on the outskirts of each. Find the best place to park based on the direction you're coming from in the Parking Map.
The heart of all the action is Derby Village! The venue is centered around 5500 E Cheryl Pkwy, Fitchburg, WI 53711. However, please note that E Cheryl Pkwy between Fish Hatchery Rd and Woods Hollow Rd is closed to vehicular traffic. As you approach the venue on race day, signs and volunteers will direct you to the best available parking.
Did you know that some Dane County physical education budgets are less than $100? That's why all proceeds of Birdie Derby support the Grants 4 Schools program. Teachers, schools, and community centers receive grants to support health and wellness initiatives inside and outside the classroom. You can learn more about Tri 4 Schools' programs here.
Tri 4 Schools
We’re supporting the well-being of kids inside and outside the classroom.
Since 2011, we’ve donated over $450,000 to over 200 schools and 22,000 kids have crossed the finish line!
It was so exciting to see the smile on my child’s face as she crossed the finish line! Seeing her proud of her accomplishment means everything!
"This was the best organized and fun event I’ve been to in my 11 years as a father!
To see the determination and pride on his face as he did something new reminded me how important it is to challenge ourselves at any age.
"The impact Tri 4 Schools has made on our school is immeasurable. Our kids love the program, learn valuable life lessons, and our department has received thousands of dollars to support our classes.
